About Us

Stirling Spiders is a climbing club for children over the age of 10 based in Stirling, Scotland.

 

'Home'  for Stirling Spiders is 'The Peak', a sports centre, on Forthside Way, Stirling where we have regular sessions throughout the week at The Peak Climbing Wall for young people interested in developing their climbing, having fun, and meeting other young climbers.  We also visit other climbing walls and outside locations.  Whilst Stirling Spiders is not part of The Peak or Active Stirling's programme, but we are delighted to be affiliated with Active Stirling.

 

Stirling Spiders is a parent run club however all sessions/activities are led by qualified, and experienced climbing instructors with support from parent helpers (All Instructors and Parent Helpers are PVG Cleared).

The club provides

• Weekly Climbing Sessions  -     Saturday Spiders  , Sunday/Wednesday Developers & Tuesday Independent Climbers

• Trips to other climbing walls and opportunities to climb outdoors

• Annual residential trip

 

Joining Spiders

Stirling Spiders is open to young climbers from the age of 10 up to the age of 18 (and still in secondary education) in the year of membership. The club exists for the benefit of these members.

Membership is open to anyone regardless of sex, disability, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, religion or other beliefs.  However, limitation of membership is based according to availability. In the interest of safety, we may direct some membership inquiries to groups or facilities that are better equipped to accommodate requirements that the club are unable to meet with regards to disability. 

 

We ask that anyone looking to join passes their NICAS Level 2 and are at least 10 years old. Whilst the Stirling Spiders do not run NICAS courses, NICAS and other climbing classes are held at the Peak and information can be obtained from their website or at the centre.

Spider’s sessions are broken up into blocks throughout the year following closely to the school terms. Fees are payable by block. 

​

We do have a waiting list - session numbers are small due to their nature and very popular therefore we encourage anyone interested to get their names on the waiting list as soon as possible (don’t worry about age the youngest we have on the list is 2!).

 

Parents - get involved - This is a parent run club so climber or not we will find something for you to do.
